Cliftonville Women's 2s arrived at Dartford keen to finally return to action after two previous weeks of conceded fixtures. The team was eager to get back on the pitch and make their efforts count.
The game started evenly, with both sides testing each other early on. Dartford appeared to have a particularly quick and dangerous right winger, but excellent defensive work from Olga, Ineta, and Kerry ensured she was well contained and unable to make significant progress.
Cliftonville steadily grew into the game and began applying sustained pressure. Their attacking intent earned them four short corners in quick succession, but despite their persistence and well-organised routines, they were unable to convert. The half ended 0–0, with Cliftonville feeling positive about their performance. After half-time sweets and an encouraging team talk, Cliftonville returned to the pitch with renewed enthusiasm.
Their determination paid off in the 38th minute when Cat produced a moment of brilliance. Making a strong run forward, she reached the baseline and, from a very tight and unlikely angle, fired a shot towards goal. Against the odds, the ball found its way perfectly into the left corner, giving Cliftonville a deserved lead and lifting the team’s energy even further.
Cliftonville continued to dominate possession and maintained relentless pressure for the remainder of the match, limiting Dartford to very few chances. The defensive unit stayed composed, and the midfield and forwards worked tirelessly to control the game until the final whistle.
The match finished 1–0 to Cliftonville, securing a well-earned three points.
