Cliftonville Back in Rhythm with 6–1 Win at BBHC
Cliftonville Men’s 1s travelled to Bexleyheath & Belvedere looking to bounce back and return to winning ways and from the first whistle, they looked determined to do exactly that.
Ville started on the front foot, suffocating BBHC with relentless pressure. They bullied through the middle, stretched play out wide, fizzed balls into the D, and stitched together sharp one and two touch combinations around the circle. The only thing missing was the finish. Much like last weekend, dominance wasn’t immediately turning into goals.
BBHC threatened occasionally on the counter as Cliftonville’s midfield pushed high, but each break was snuffed out quickly. Eventually, the breakthrough came. Mees picked up the ball centrally, spotted Oscar ghosting in at the back post, and threaded a perfect pass for a deft deflection into the net. The pressure finally told.
Isaac added a second soon after, pouncing on a loose ball in the D and sweeping it home. Tom then bulldozed his way through the defence, muscling into the circle and calmly slotting past the keeper to make it 3–0. A strong lead, though given the volume of chances, it could easily have been double.
The second half followed the same script: Cliftonville in control, creating chances, and this time converting more of them. Charlie struck twice with two well‑placed finishes, and Oscar added another to complete his brace, both players narrowly missing out on hat‑tricks. BBHC did pull one back after a short corner struck Isaac on the post, resulting in a penalty flick that was converted, but it was little more than a consolation.
A 6–1 win, built on constant pressure, creativity in the final third, and a solid defensive base. A performance full of chances, energy, and control, exactly the response Cliftonville needed.
