Cliftonville Women's 2s travelled away to face Bromley Beckenham Ladies 4s, anticipating a strong and well-organised opposition—and they were not mistaken. Expecting sustained pressure from the home side, Cliftonville set up in a defensive formation from the outset, aiming to absorb the attack and create opportunities on the counter.
This approach proved effective for the opening 15 minutes, with Cliftonville showing discipline, structure, and determination to keep Bromley Beckenham at bay. However, the home side’s persistence paid off as they found a breakthrough, putting the first goal away. A second soon followed, reflecting Bromley Beckenham’s attacking strength and ability to capitalise on their chances.
Despite the scoreline, Cliftonville worked hard to push forward when opportunities arose, making several attacking attempts. While they showed intent and effort, they were unable to convert their chances into goals.
At half time, Cliftonville regrouped and agreed to continue their defensive strategy, maintaining focus, teamwork, and resilience. The second half saw an excellent collective effort from the entire squad, with every player contributing defensively while remaining alert to attacking opportunities. A special mention goes to Freiya, who, after only a few games with the team, demonstrated impressive strength and composure in midfield, helping to disrupt Bromley Beckenham’s play.
Cliftonville continued to show determination and strong work rate throughout the match. However, Bromley Beckenham’s very strong and skilful side maintained control and added a further four goals, resulting in a 6–0 result.
Despite the outcome, Cliftonville’s commitment and teamwork remained evident until the final whistle.
