Men's 3rd XI vs Knole Park Development

This week Ville went on a long adventure over to a strong Knole Park side. With a 12-man squad the team were looking for a quick start and to play are style of hockey and not let them disrupt that. This plan did not start well as an in-form Knole Park side scored a quick goal. We were behind but not for long as Ollie slid a ball through to JK who slotted home to make it 1-1. Ville were quick off the blocks again as the ball was played around the oppositions D until Macer picked up a pocket of space to shoot and was never going to miss. We went into half time with our heads held high. We gave away too many short corners in the first half due to a young skilful midfielder who was a problem for are normally strong defence. We entered the second half knowing that the scoreline would not be the same it currently was. Some slick moves from Ollie, Rob and Aron in the midfield helped Ville keep a strong backbone. With our team defending well, it was all up to the attack. With missed chance after missed chance we knew more would come. We gained another goal through Aron shortly into the second half and we kept pushing from there. Ollie picked up the ball and as per usual went on a terrific run, dribbling past defender after defender to bury it away in a tight angle to add to his goal tally this year. Ville had held strong throughout the game with some tidy defence. Both defending and attacking was a team effort, all players were giving all they had to win the ball back and push forward. Dylan scored to cap of the night from a deflected shot off the keeper. This game showed how hard we were willing to work even when we were leading by 2 or 3. Up the ville!
